Harry,
If you have installed vDosPlus using one of my installers, the version
info is in the version.txt file in the same folder as your vDosPlus.exe.
The current installers make a complete backup of your setup
automatically, so you can install on top of your current setup. The
backup is a zip file, so if you have to restore anything, just drag and
drop.
The easiest way is to install the Service Pack proper (it is
ready-to-run!), and add customizations from your earlier startup and
default files. If you change code pages (e.g. from 437 to 850), this is
preferable. "Restore settings" copies your current defaults to the setup
if you keep your current code page (CP437). Do not use "Restore
settings" when changing code pages. Instead, add your own customizations
from your earlier startup and default files.
You can, of course, read the documentation, and do all the setup steps
yourself. In this case, select the Update version. It does not change
your configuration files but you must remember to tick the "Restore
settings" box in the final stage of the installation dialogs to keep
custom settings. You have to finalize code page setup and other tweaks
yourself. All the necessary files are provided by the setup.
Best regards,
Kari Eveli
