Hi Carl,
A couple of comments:
1. F3 is a good key toblems I mentioned. But ....... I have a directory with these files (and many others) in it:
20070320-Echocardiogram.pdf
20080120-Echocardiogram.pdf
20080410-Echocardiogram.pdf
20100422-Echocardiogram.pdf
20110504-Echocardiogram.pdf
20130516-Echocardiogram.pdf
20140619-Echocardiogram.pdf
20140716-Echocardiogram.pdf
20140722-Stress-Echocardiogram.pdf
20150625-Echocardiogram.pdf
20160107-Echocardiogram.pdf
...
echocardiogram.txt
(Yes, too many echocardiograms!)
I want to open echocardiogram.txt. So I can type 'echocardiogram.t<Enter>' or 'e<F3><F3><F3><F3><F3>...<F3><Enter>'. I'd like to be able to type 'E<Enter>'.
On the other hand, if my directory has these files
aez.txt
eb.txt
ec.txt
...
ez.txt
then I can reach ez.txt quickly with 'ez<F3>', so I'm notze:small">
2. QN is a great editor for text-like files. With the rich scripting language you've developed and features like your incremental search and DIR, it pretty much dominates Notepad++ for my purposes. But even though it can edit text-like files, I don't think it can create a non-md file (can it?). Perhaps an argument is that that's the way it should be because QN is an editor with md as the native format. Or perhaps there is an argument that there's no loss in saving any text file as a md file. Probably if you want to create an HTML file or a TeX file, for example, you'll use a specialized editor for those file types. But maybe you want to start work on such files in QN? So I'm suggesting that maybe it should be possible to create a non-md (text) file.
