Re: Xy without vDosPlus/DOSBox-X ?

Edward,
Screen display is not ok (totally erratic, lines do not wrap as they should), and I do not see how to manage it. I have standard settings, like this:
; Set screen size
DF SW=80
DF SL=25
It is difficult to see how this could be a contender for running Xy4. vDos+ Xy4 is speedy enough and has all screen controls one could wish for.

Best regards,

The author of the msdos-player app (the original author, in Japan) has fixed his program so that it works with XyWrite's keyboard handling. Download this zip archive:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/yb82vgtg0q1qihm2ctjfg/xywrite64.zip?rlkey=rj93791al1664qr0ortu5th0m&dl=1

Extract the enclosed xywrite64.exe and move it into the same folder
that contains editor.exe, then run the program. Nothing in your
existing setup will be changed, and you can delete this file (or
rename it) at any time.
When you launch it, XyWrite should open in a terminal window, and you
can change the size and other properties of the window by
right-clicking on the top line. The new window size, etc. won't look
right until you quit XyWrite and restart it.
I don't know if this has any advantage over vDosPlus except (perhaps)
speed and tighter integration with Windows. When it prints, it sends a
.PRN file to your %TEMP% folder. I have a folder-watching program that
can watch for those files and print or create a PDF from them, but
that's for another day.
