I'm new to linux and only follow what Claude tells me about. So, I'm using keyd for unversal, low-level remappings (like CapsLock becoming Ctrl and Ctrl become Alt) and then Claude suggested xbindkeys (or a similar name) between keyd and my (Claude's) new program. And that required xdotool or something like that. It got baroque so I laid the law down to Claude: only keyd and what you make in python for me. So I'll ask Claude about xmdodmap and xkb. But I did try one with a name like xauto and it was flakey. Thanks for the referrals. --Harry On Tue, 08 Sep 2026 11:45:13 -1000, Bob Newell wrote: > > > Claude has written me, in Python, a key-binding program (to > > substitute, in Linux, for Autohotkey).
