Coding in XPL, at which I am trying my hand (by hand!) somehow reminds me of the old days of coding in assembler, which once upon a time I did for a variety of systems. Of course XPL operates at a much higher level than assembler, but perhaps it's the short mnemonics that remind me of bygone days. Assembler was tedious and slow to code but remarkably effective and fast running. Today with fast machines we don't mind slower run-times when we're talking milli- or even micro-seconds; the tedium and slowness are the things we avoid. Not of course meaning to say that XPL is tedious or slow :) -- Bob Newell Honolulu, Hawai`i - Via GNU-Linux/Emacs/Gnus/BBDB
