Re: USB printing ??? & DOS2USB pgm

Trying to use a canon MP460 all-in-one USB printer the government has issued me with my beloved Xy. For whatever reason I couldn't get NET USE to capture the LPT1
Try using LPT2--I think there can be problems using LPT1 if there's already
an actual LPT1 port.

Thanks for the reference to DOS2USB.
BUT when I tried the exact same doc in Xy4, using Xy4's BJ130.PRN, I got horrible results;
Could it be something in the SETTINGS.DFL file? That, for Xy4, is the file
with the print settings. Try renaming SETTINGS.DFL to SETTINGS.SAV (or
whatever) and importing the PRN file from Xy3 into your Xy4 folder, and
temporarily renaming that file SETTINGS.DFL.
I don't know if the SETTINGS.DFL and Xy3 PRN files are really
interchangeable in this way, but it will give you a place to start from.
Another thing to try is printing to a file (TYF) in both Xy3 and Xy4, then
comparing the thus-produced files.
I have a support e-mail in to DOS2USB, but knowing the combined experience & wisdom of this group of distinguished XyWrite aficionados I wanted to turn it this direction too.
Anyone have a clue on this? Is it something inherent to Xy4's pgm code or
the Xy4 PRN drivers?
I don't think it is anything relating to Xy4's code; it is probably just
the SETTINGS.DFL settings, or some other user settings. I also don't see
why DOS2USB would even figure in here--either the print-to-file output is
the same or it isn't.
