It was Xerox, not Bell. - - the mouse, the GUI, etc. Much later Xerox
tried to sue Apple, unsuccessfully, over these items, just as Apple
tried, unsuccessfully, to sue Microsoft. For these amazing
innovations, including most pertinently sub-pixel anti-aliasing
(which powers ATM/CoolType, Quartz, and ClearType), Xerox was the
unrewarded innovator.
