RE: xy windows

Folks:

For what its worth, I shove large files back and forth between XyWrite and
Windows all the time.

To take a large bunch of XyWrite stuff and put it into Windows, take what
you want and put it into an easy-to-find file. Then in Word for Windows for
example, use file attach and pull the file in as text. (You have that option
on the attachment screen.)

To take a bunch of stuff from Windows (any program though the formatting can
go wonky at times,) have what you want on the screen with the cursor in it,
go Ctrl-A to define it and Ctrl-C to stuff it into the Clipboard

Then go to XyWrite, go Alt-Enter to move XyWrite into a Windows Window, find
or create the XyWrite document you want the text to go to and with the
cursor in the text section of the XyWrite window, go Alt-Space, E, (for
Edit)and P (for Paste.)

To get back to full screen XyWrite and out of Windows, go Alt-Enter again.

It could be easier but at least it works. I have moved really large bunches
of text both ways.

In mine, I can. But either way around (copying or pasting), what's clipped
has to be *short*.

If I want to shunt medium-length (let alone long) chunks between XyWin and
conventional Windoze programs, I either do so via TSR or I use TSR instead
of XyWin.

The Technology Group knows about the clipboard limits. After all, George
Bushman said of it on this very mailing list (on 23 September 1997):

But good news: TTG is working on it! According to the company's own web
page http://www.tgrp.com/support/ :
