Re: Windows 7, again

Welcome aboard, John.

You will want to check out a thread entitled "Win7 and XP" that began around Sept. 10, and still continued with some posts just a few days ago.  (I'm not acquainted with the current status of the XySearch tool for this list -- whether it is operational at the moment, and how up to date a coverage its message lookup may have.)  This is far from the only thread on this subject, just the most recent one.

Since I've just been down this same road a bit, I can tell you that I tried the XPMode emulation solution for W7 x64.  It is the most direct and natively integrated of the various such solutions that have been suggested.  They all run a Virtual XP inside your Win-7, with certain apps being installed into the Virtual Machine and run inside this windowed environment inside Win-7.  This worked fine for certain older Windows programs that would not even install into W7, such as a very early version of PhotoShop Elements.  For Xy though it was rather a clunker.  I wound up with a
a screen that was about the size of a 3 x 5 card, which could not be enlarged.  Not very useful.  Should I wish to pursue this further, it will send me in the direction of  one of the other VM solutions, such as VirtualBox.  They require more work to set up, and they all require a license / install CD for an earlier Win version: either XP or W2K.

Subject: Windows 7, again

Hi, I'm new to this group, but a veteran XyWriter. I suppose this question has been asked a thousand times: how do I get editor.exe running under Windows 7 64bit? I've tried the various compatibility settings without success. A quick browse of your archives didn't immediately turn up an answer. One more time, please...
