I knew people who used it way back when, and that
sounds of a piece with what they thought of it.
(Yegads -- but those low-capacity 8" floppies . . .
!!) I wasn't able or willing to pay the toll until
several years later -- around '84 -- so by then DOS it
was. From what I heard of CP/M usage, DOS seemed
noticeably simpler to me.

Always with the caveat that it is Windoze after all,
W2K SP4 gives up almost nothing to XP, in terms of
functionality and stability, and the interface hasn't
been tinkertoyed or dumbed down.
