Re: Conversion from xy4dos to xy4win

Of the various answers that have been offered to the problem of "DOS
graphical characters" displaying in XyWin, the one that tallies with my
experience is a matter of differences in font names. In XyWin, when you
get the odd characters, go into expanded view and look at the font name
and the SY delta after it. Compare them with the fonts available, which
show when you use the menu to choose a font. Chances are they will
differ.

The simple but slow way to deal with this problem is to change to a
Windows font. For instance, when I use a Garamond font in 4.017, the
font is called either "Garmond" or "Garamond (w1)". The corresponding
font that works in Windows is called "Garamond," and the SY attribute is
also different. You can do the change manually or edit the deltas. A
simpler way is to put all the deltas into your template, and use a
simple macro to change their order (only the last of each type is
effective).
