AS Command?

The other day I accidently typed "as" instead of "sa" to save a document. A
valid command triangle appeared: ≪AS≫. A little experimentation revealed
that AS also takes and stores arguments, preserving case, as in
F5 AS Doug ==> ≪ASDoug≫
I could find no trace of AS used in the .DLG file. Does anyone know what AS
is used for and what it does?
