QS has to be a carryover from Xy ties to Atex. As I recall, the Atex command
for changing directories (ques) was QS. For me, using XYWIN, QS works as
well as CD.

It works in Xy4DOS that way too. That could explain why people think it has
to do with a path stack: if you issue CD with no argument, it goes to the
previous directory. A stack of one item.
