This step has been taken. I could not locate the edited registry, so I went
through the "original" registry, repeated the entries I had made earlier,
and added
my computer's addresses for U2, ZIP and UNZIP, my BOOKMARKS, WINWORLD &
WORDPERFECT, my BROWSERS, , and the suggested DICTIONARY
entries. I have also attached a short file on possible registry additions.
These were
items that looked as though they might belong in the registry, but items
that I could
not understand how to enter.
I should also report that now when I issue the command RUN STARTUP.INT,
nothing visible happens. No error message appears, but neither is there any
evidence that STARTUP.INT has been run.

Yes. DELete the old SETTINGS.DFL, and then put my version in its place (store
it from your Emailer as a *file*, then move that file into Editor's directory
-- do not copy and paste from any program except XyWrite, it simply won't work
-- you can *never* plop naked XyWrite XPL code into an Email msg, like you did
with your STARTUP.INT code, it simply won't be intelligible, as I think
you can
see by looking at your own msg to this group. And what's with the
"SETTINGS1.DFL [I] provided"? it's "SETTINGS", sans "1" -- computers
are
precision instruments!!).
