Re: printer hookup

Assuming you have a valid driver file for your printer, this should just be
a matter of adding a line to your Startup.Int that loads it. For example:

BC Load F:\XY3\Mystery.Prn

with your correct Path info and printer file name. The highlighted "BC" is
a function call, not just the actual letters. (I think the preferred
practice for XY4 may have become the use of a BX function call instead, but
I never got caught up with certain details like that.) Startup.Int is
considered a program, so it is better for you to call it for editing with
CAP, rather than CA. (Best to have it backed up first, as well.) There are
various ways of entering function calls into the file, such as PFUNC, but
the easiest for you may just be to copy another line's "BC" to a fresh line,
as your Startup file should have plenty already.

I never checked, and doubt it still exists, but they had an old dial-up BBS
that stayed up for many years beyond the time anyone might have expected it
would. It had many of those files also, particularly the older ones.

No matter. I subscribed to their Application Notes for several years, which
provided various printer files etc. on diskette, and collected Xy-files from
other sources. Anything that was on 5.25" disks here but never got
transferred to Zip or CD -- and there was a stack of such disks -- we can
probably forget about, since I can't even take a Dir of it now. But I can
search for your particular printer file, given some time. XY3 is mostly off
my hard drive by now, but I did see at least 3LQ850 and 3LQ2550, which I
think worked with my Epson Stylus Color 800 that is now in storage. Those I
could send you more quickly, though I don't know if either is appropriate.
Let me know if you care to experiment.
