NTVDM and Duo core processors

Michael Norman has found out that NTVDM can crash on some dual core
processors. This is apparently what the problem is with the old Tame on the
new Lenovo. There is a utility (IMAGECFG.EXE) that is supposed to set the
"affinity" of NTVDM, but it generates an error message on my system:

IMAGECFG: unable to map and load c:\windows\system32\ntvdm.exe
Googling that error message didn't turn up any help. Does anyone here know
anything about this?
