Extended Memory and USB2

I have been running XY4 for about a year on a machine with USB2 and the bios for the latter appears
to take memory space that would normally be allotted to extended memory. Consequently I have none
available and as a result cannot run a UK Microlytics dictionary, which I much prefer. Disabling
USB releases the required memory but that is not an option. However I has recently occurred to me
that I could disable the motherboard USB support and instead use a PCI USB card to provide USB2.
My question is this, does anybody have a feel for whether the USB card would simply pinch the same
memory space as the motherboard bios? Is so, this would obviously be a waste of time and money. I
would ask a USB card manufacturer but I have so far not been able to track down a web site for the
makers of any of those available in the UK.

Thanks
