XyWrite 4 under Win2K/XP

After reading all the posts on this question (and we've been round the
mulberry bush on it so often that some members--not I--are sick of it), I
keep wondering if there isn't a hardware component. I'm in the process of
setting up a new system; it's fairly slow by current standards (1.1 GHz),
but it runs so fast that hitting DEL to get into setup on boot (which I
need to do frequently in the process of tweaking things) is no easy job.
If one doesn't hit the key at just the right moment, for just the right
length of time, one has missed one's window of opportunity. Now the
keyboard interface, IIRC, hasn't changed much since the introduction of
the AT; oh, M$ added those Windows keys, and my new system has a couple
of strange keys between the "Insert-Home-PgUp-Delete-End-PgDn" group and
the dedicated cursor keys (one has something that looks like an
automobile steering wheel, the other two have stylized crescent moon and
rising sun; any guess as to what they're for, anybody?). But keyboards
are basically what they were 10 years ago. So perhaps the name-brands are
doing something to the keyboard interface to make it mesh better with
today's high-speed systems. And mucking up Xy in the process.
It might be useful if those who are running Xy under Win2K/XP
sucessfully listed their basic hardware, and those who aren't listed
theirs; a pattern might emerge.
