Virus experience

Not exactly on target, but allow me to relate that I have finally, after
all these years, managed to get my system infected quite badly with the
something-or-other virus -- I blush to say I have already forgotten its
name. It puts a million .eml messages in all your directories, each of
which contains the hidden virus. However I got it, it was NOT from opening
an email attachment, which shows that these things can get at you now in
other ways. Norton AV took care of it but I HATE Norton AV 2002 because it
cannot be uninstalled from my XP Dell without causing the loss of my cable
internet service. I spent some hours with Dell trying to resolve this, but
the only way to get my internet services back was to 'go back' before the
uninstall or reinstall NAV 2002. Hateful.
Anyway, the moral is, that it is no longer enough not to open email
attachments. You now (if you are misfortunate enough to be on Windows) must
have AV running constantly in the background.
