Re: XYWIN CUSTOMI

Re the Windows character set, I'd hate to see xyWin shift from
one rather unfortunate choice to another. To maintain
compatibility with the original
Mac QXP, when Quark ported the app to Windows it migrated not
only the Mac keyboard map but the character set, while
recognizing the Windows ANSI set.
Given xyWrite's advantages as a dtp front end and the continued dominance of
Macs for dtp, I would argue that TTG might do well to follow
Quark's example and adopt the Mac character set with an ANSI
alternative for xyWin. I use a dtp-oriented word processor built
on an 80x86 non-Windows gui not least because it too uses the Mac
character set and keyboard map--a great convenience when
taskswitching or converting. The Mac character set's typographic
tilt helped give Macs the dtp edge, and of three subscribers who
have been using xyW as a front end for QXP, two use the Mac
character set.
