I haven't used the PlusTek scanner, Myron, but it looks like it would answer Robert's concerns about including images and creating a text that can be searched. Will you send me (off-list) a PDF copy of the "Signature Programming Guide" you've already scanned and converted?
I use Adobe Acrobat a lot, and I may be able to help with the other conversions. As you may know, Acrobat Distiller creates a hyperlinked table of contents automagically if the text is pre-formatted in MS Word or Adobe Pagemaker. That would be handy!

I have a scanned, pdf version of the "Signature Programming Guide".
It's 5.3 MB. I created it when I was first experimenting with my
PlusTek book scanner.
I think I have all of the original Signature manuals, which I can
convert to PDF if there is any demand for them.
