Tom L.: Put away your checkbook. You don't have to pay your typist more. If
Word has auto-replace in its speller, as I believe it does, then you don't
need macros or save/gets. In fact, you don't need them in XyWrite either.

Simply abbreviate the character names (or any other repeating text) with a
string that won't duplicate a legitimate word. The easiest way to do this is
with a preceding "x" (for eXpand?).

For example, for the days of the week:
xmo xtu xwe xth xfr xsa xsu

Or for characters named Charlie, Cheryl, Thomas, and Theodore:
xcha xche xtho xthe

The neat thing about these is that (a) there's almost no limit (well, there
is, but you probably won't reach it) and (b) they expand automatically when
you type the next non-alphanumeric character, such as a period, space, etc.

Both XyWrite and Word have fairly easy means of creating these expandable
strings.
