Tim, thank you so much! ≪va$ar≫ is not documented in my Customization Guide, so I wonder if there are more new features I don't know about. I stopped expecting anything good from TTG when they took my money for the so-called "XyWrite for Windows" that allowed me to produce exactly the same errors with bugs in the XPL language as with the DOS version but that could not use the German spelling checker and thesaurus which was added to the unfortunate Signature thing and did run (and still does, every day) under Xy4Dos. Sorry for the emotional outbreak, but the strangulation of the best DOS editor still hurts. Anyway, now at least I can secure my macros from expanding innocent strings to unwanted words. As for saving to a different format, I will simply follow your macro. A test with the three RTF filters (ANSI, PC, 815) showed no differences between the converted files in Word 6. Do you (or someone else) know if there are any differences between these filters?
