Re: paying the true bill -- just a matter of time . . .

Hello,

>When 'Free' Windows 10 Becomes Expensive, You Should Fear This

Fear nothing! There are alternatives, and much depends on the consumer
and corporate reaction to all this turmoil. The position of Windows is
so strong that only MS can make it fall. If they handle this badly,
Windows 10 may mark a watershed in operating systems, and the demise of
Windows.

On the other hand, MS has the technology to make a great operating
system if they choose to do so. A desktop system based on modular
elements with multiple virtualization in the core, backward compatible
out of the box, many personalities at the user interface level,
customizable at will. Huh, actually this begins to sound more like a
Linux distribution.

Then again, Linux lacks those familiar applications. There are many
interesting articles about this in a popular mainframe users' mainstay,
e.g.:

http://www.datamation.com/open-source/windows-vs-linux-the-2015-version-1.html

A free operating system with more control is just around the corner if
need be.
