Re: XYWin hogs CPU

Paul,
As for two launches of Tame-Xy, it isn't two launches. One is the normal XY window and the second is the tame console.
What do you mean by "console" here? A menu, or Xy formatted for Tame? Maybe
a screen shot would be helpful.
I suspect that one is not supposed to see both, only the tame console, but under certain circumstances both do appear, here anyway. That is, in my opinion, the root of the toggling problem. Though the original XY screen may not normally be visible it still exists and the toggling finds it.
I can probably live with the toggling issue. What is more concerning to
me at the moment is that I cannot launch a full screen Tame console with
my desired screen length. I have no trouble using Tame and getting it to
support 25, 28, 43 and 50 lines. What I do have trouble with is being
able to set these up to launch automatically. The closest I can get at
present is launching 50 lines in full screen, switching to windowed mode
and then back to full screen. The latter is then the Tame 50 line
console. However even with this I cannot find a way to automatically get
rid of the mouse pointer when typing. I have to select if from the Tame
menu every time; 'save settings on exit' does not work for me. Does it
work for you?
Yes, but I *never* work in full screen mode, always in windowed. Can't see
the attraction of full-screen: Tame gives you all the visual goodies you
want (font size, spacing) in windowed and you still have access to all your
other programs. And you can get the mouse pointer out of the way. Try
windowed for a while, with 43 or 50 lines, and you'll never go back.
With Tame 6.0 (which I assume must be the same as your 5.1, though it calls itself 6 on the website and when installed)

No, 6.0 is a different thing. And 5.1 comes in 10 or so different versions.
I have to start with a 25 line window and then manually set the window size for the different size I want. Again I cannot find a way to save settings, nor to use the configuration files to change anything. Perhaps you can tell me how you launch XY4 into 43 lines and I'll see if it works here.

Okay, but this is with 5.1 Precopy 9
in Xy's file SETTINGS.DFL:
DF SL=43
In .../My Documents/Tame 5.1/SavedOptions there is a [yourname].pif.view.tam file where [yourname] is something connected with XyWrite--it may be "XyWrite" or "Editor". In it find the Screen Layout stanza, and make it like this:

; Screen Layout
    TextHeight=10
    KeepWindowOnScreen=on
    Rows=43

I don't know what TextHeight=10 means or does.
