OT: Spooling--bidirectional nostalgia

Turned bidirectional off and things improved considerably.
I remember when "bidirectional printing" meant the thing printed in both
directions (rather than having to do a  to start at the left end of
the next line).

In fact, I had to buy a special card to put into my NEC Spinwriter to
enable bidirectional printing.
