It's not a typo. Although both are date masks, DZ and FZ are two
separate settings. DZ controls the "hard" and "soft" date commands
(TODAY and DA); FZ controls the format of file dates in directory
listings. The recommendation in XYWWWEB.TXT is to set FZ:

df fz=MM-DD-YYYY
