Re: new recruits & old recidivists

Just to weigh in here btwn Xy3 & Xy4, I am no computer geek, and was very reluctant to switch, but Carl convinced me. I installed Xy4 with the option to use it like Xy3 so I could use old key combinations that were part of my fingers. Had a bit  of confusion with a few settings, but once through that have been even happier with Xy4 than Xy3.

The wildcard search & replace is incredibly useful...can't remember if Xy3 had anything like it. Can search and replace for many specific types of text, much more easily than in Word, and replace is much more flexible and accurate.

And the best new user feature is wildcard search and replace. Also, Carl and Robert's U2 plug-in assumes Xy4, and it takes Xy to a whole new level. A hundred times a day I use the clipw frame to cut and paste between Xy and Win. And so many other indispensable routines. Its value is enormous. We Xyquestrians are forever in their debt.

Charles,

New to the mailing list, but not to XyWrite. Which makes you a Xyhiatist, or a recidivist, I suppose.

XPL tweaking is one of the main reasons to upgrade to Xy4 and abandon 3, as Harry rightly points out.
