Re HIDE problems

It looks like my U2 problems didn't arise from the content of my
modifications, but from my sloppiness in the testing process: I must have
accidentally overwritten the wrong file in the process of testing the ENTER
routine, which took 16 tries.

Is there some systematic way to test/debug, so that one doesn't get
confused as I did with files named TEST11, TEST12, etc? How do you guru
guys keep track of things?
