Under XP Pro x64 or Server 2003, you must use VPC if you wish to
run 16 bit programs (like NB) in the WOW, or DOS programs (like
Xy4) in an NTVDM command shell. Moreover, there are plenty of
high-end or bespoke programs that run in one environment only,
like NT4.0 SP6. You can host OS/2. You can run a Linux guest
under VPC 2007. There are nearly endless reasons why people
need to virtualize other OSes, including all manner of software
testing -- a lot easier than maintaining a warehouse-full of
hardware.
