Search through recent files only

Is there a way to SEarch through only the most recent files in a directory?
I have probably 2,000 files going back several years in a directory and
would like to find a particular string in a single file I think was STored
in the last few weeks.
If I could just search through the most recent few dozen file, I'd save
some time.
Thanks for any advice.
