Re: OT: Web-based document conversion

I just took a look at the goBCL site that Carl mentioned, which
offers free conversion of Word and other standard file to PDF or
HTML form. They are very vague about the former, but claim to
provide very precise HTML files. BUT in case you are wondering
about how much the free lunch costs, look at this paragraph from
their privacy policy:

2. PRIVACY It is BCL's policy to respect the privacy of
registrants for the SERVICE.
Therefore, BCL will not monitor, edit, or disclose any
personal information about you or the
documents you submit for conversion to PDF and HTML
format, including their contents,
without your prior permission unless BCL in its sole
discretion believes that such action is
necessary to: (1) comply with legal process; (2) otherwise
protect the legal rights of BCL;
    (3) enforce the TERMS; or (4) protect the interests of
registrants for the SERVICE or others.
BCL may on occasion provide certain registrant information
in anonymous, aggregate form
to third parties such as advertisers for demographic
purposes. You agree that BCL may
have access to your registration information and the
documents you submit for conversion
to PDF and HTML format, including their contents, for any
of the reasons stated above, or to
respond to service or technical issues.
