Title: RE: DOS box creepers and Tame (taskbar icons)

Apparently, Pomona University's virus scanner was designed by the Chicken Little Co. Two (up-to-date) virus scans and a consult with our IT dept says there is no virus on my machine. I even tried sending the original to myself here to see if the program watching the company's incoming mail could find anything. Not a peep. I sent it to my well-protected system at home...nothing.

The only thing I can think of is that the attached "favicon.ico" file has something within it that "looks" virus-like to Pomona. I created it with a small program who's only function is to convert BMPs to ICO files...it may imbed a header that has something in common with a typical virus signature. So unless the fact that I sent the message in rich-text has anything to do with it...?

Brian:

By the way, did you know that the cyberpolice are after you?
You sent us a virus, actually two of them, today, and a virus scanner at
Pomona University flagged it and sent warnings to the list.
Your machine is infected, it would seem.
Don't send any attachments to anybody until you clean it up.
Your up-to-date AV software ought to be able to handle it -- right?
