Re: Please use an indicative subject line

You mean, can I fix your error? If I really really had an incentive, yes.
Normally, no.

No, no, Is there any way I can make up for changing my
mind? Other than "replying" from the trash bin, which
is inelegant but seems to work.
It doesn't let you see the whole file, including the headers? Nice Emailer you
got there.
It let's me SEE everything. But when I'm "composing"
(its term for writing) I have three little windows onto
the file: 1) To:, which is blank if I've clicked on
Write; and includes the original address if I've
clicked on Reply, with space for me to type in any
additional recipients. 2) Subject, which automatically
is populated by the Subject line of the message I'm
replying to, or blank if I clicked on Write. 3) A box
to type in my message.

Nor can I get to even see the whole thing, as I can
with received messages, by typing CTrl-U. In my Inbox,
that gives me the whole "source" of the post, including
the--what's its proper name? I call it trace route:
this kind of stuff:
Received: from ccat.sas.upenn.edu (CCAT.SAS.upenn.edu
[128.91.200.226])
by ultra5.eskimo.com (8.13.6/8.13.4) with ESMTP id
k5OLfJFB021217
	for ; Sat, 24 Jun 2006 14:41:21 -0700
Received: from host (localhost [127.0.0.1])
	by ccat.sas.upenn.edu (8.12.5-20030917/8.12.5) with
SMTP id k5OLbJ6U027519;
	Sat, 24 Jun 2006 17:37:19 -0400 (EDT)

Now obviously one wouldn't have "received from" for a
message that hasn't been sent yet. But that "view
source" window also shows:

Message-Id: <200606242136.k5OLatk2003899@xxxxxxxx>

Date: Sat, 24 Jun 2006 17:36:51 -0400
To: xywrite@xxxxxxxx
From: "Robert Holmgren"
Reply-To: xywrite@xxxxxxxx
In-Reply-To: <449D6355.8030807@xxxxxxxx>
References:
<7.0.1.0.2.20060622152850.0209f590@xxxxxxxx>...

But either a newly composed message doesn't have that
or Tbird won't let me get at it.
Now I just logged this to "Send Later," then went into my "To Be Sent" box, and from THAT I can get the whole megillah by typing Cntrl-U. And apparently the "In-Reply-To" item is what Tbird calls( what you're calling X-Ref. Whether it would let me enter or change that from the "View Source" window, I don't know. (I'm not going to tangle this thread by trying.) But IIRC, one cannot do anything but View from View source. And NO, I do not like Tbird at all, but haven't been able to find anything else.
