Nooooo I didn't -- but you do. You need to perform a pure *Ascii text* SAVE
(maybe a "Save As", depending upon your mail client) of the whole msg -- of the

"filename.POP" (if you have a decent mailer, it should list the filename) and
open it in XyWrite!
Mea ignotus. Using Eudora Pro 4.3 I saved the message, originally, as .txt,
which is ascii, I think, but...but I had left checked in the "save as"
dialogue "include headers" and "guess paragraphs," and, now, not taking
that road, as another Robert once said, "has made all the difference."
Goodbye spaces. I don't know which one forced the spaces (I'd guess "guess"
graphs) but it's fine now. BTW where would the .pop file be listed? Can't
find a-one.
Anyway, beyond that, the macron thing works, right? It's simple and
straightforward.

Yes. Clean.
 I've never found a
workaround -- although as I write this, hmmm, maybe if you push the original
position, then use a control code instead of a real backspace char, ...
Anyway, if you're not right JUstifying, who cares.
No, I don't justify, on the page or otherwise. The former makes for easy
drafts, the latter for a lot of trouble. Again, thank you, and I'm about to
tackle the modifications you suggested for HPLJ-4.PRN.
