search utility !v^

Speaking of little search utilities, here's a very simple-minded one you
can use for strings you know are there *somewhere*. Clear the CMline,
type the search string, and hit !v^ key. It adds delimiters and searches
forward. If that fails, !v^ searches back. In any event, seb and the
string are left on the CMline--useful when a search forward succeeds,
e.g., if you've searched something with multiple string wildcards and are
uncertain what xyWrite considers to be the beginning. Also left on
CMline: a jmp command to the original text position (accurate only if
text that precedes the position stays unchanged). Works for xyDos 3 and
4. !v^ xpl code and *.kbd entry are in the UUencoded file. ... Ciao. --a
