          Carl thanks for the sound advice concerning how the
abbreviation program can be improved. This advice will stand me in good
stead for the planning of future programs and the rewriting of this
particular one.
  For this program to work one needs a list of words for which an
abbreviation is required. It is so constructed that vowels do not form part
of the shortform.
