I'm skeptical. Microsoft's biggest weakness is that all default installations are essentialy the same, and therefore share the same vulnerabilities. Linux not only has a startling number of variants, it also welcomes and encourages customizations that make it tough for hackers to figure out exactly what you have installed and how to get their hooks into it. Some may try, but I think it would be an exercise in frustration and futility unless they're going after a particular installation. That said, NOTHING is totally safe and the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.
