Yes all but XyWrite (for DOS) and Quicken (for DOS) are os/2 programs. I used
Windows for a day once to see what it was like. It's gone. OS/2 FOR
Windows is really OS/2 without windows--i.e. it FOR those who already have
windows (it has hooks to integrate windows neatly into the desktop) or who
don't want Windows at all (that's me) and especially don't want to have IBM
paying Microsoft a fee for the copy of OS/2 they sell me. Since there are so
many unused copies of Windows floating about (I think I have three, because of
that bizarre deal Microsoft forced on manufacturers) the smart thing to do is
buy OS/2 for Windows (i.e. wihtout windows in it). Then either you already
have windows programs you don't want to give up right away in which case you
already own windows or you don't and don't need windows. One nice extra is
that when I am fooling around with Xy and it gets those wonderful out of memory
errors or other freeze inducing hiccups it only takes a few seconds to recover.
Is that clearer?
