Re: Cannot Load Printer

You are referring to "MicroSoft-DOS 7.1" -- an updated version
pf MS-DOS which can recognize long filenames and has various
other useful tweaks built in, and which dates back to 1999.

IBM, at about the same time, came out with "PC-DOS 7", which
isn't quite the same animal. Among other things, it includes
a better EDIT utility, a number of REXX scripts, and a PCSHELL
utility which allows for primitive time sharing and
multi-tasking, a la Windows 3.1 and Corel's/Novell's "DR-DOS"
7.03 or 7.04. There was a 7.01 release at some point, and yet
another release in 2000, which is what I was referring to.
This is still sold -- it takes a bit of poking about the IBM
website to find, but it was there as of 5 minutes ago-- 50
bucks for internet download, or 62 dollars for CD-R. Unhappily,
IBM isn't very specific about its features, so I can't promise
that it supports USB.

The "dos" in my Windows 98se is 7.1 and it doesn't seem to
know anything about USB ports.
