Thanks to you and Karl for your help. It works! But now a new problem rears
its ugly head. The Page/line indicator is no longer accurate. XyWrite seems
to insists that the blank line between lines of double-spaced text be counted
as a line. The only work-around that I can come up with is to double my
pagelength setting from 25 lines/page to 50. This gives me an accurate page
read out but it is vexing to have to add 1 and divide by 2 each time I want to
know where I am on the page. Any suggestions, or must I wait for Ver. 4?
 By the by, while I appreciate your point about working with single spacing
(more information on the screen) I find that when working on my laptop, it is
far easier on the eyes to look at double-spaced text. For the life of me, I
cannot understand why something so elemental should be so complicated or,
rather, obscure to achieve in an otherwise splendid program. Thanks again to
