Re: Incredible Disappearing Speedos

Thanks for the reply. It has been quite some time, so I will have to double
back on the path I've taken to be entirely sure why I originally did so. My
strong recollection is that this (nixing UO, making use of IM=1) was the
*only* way I could scale *anything* Speedo on the HP-2. Otherwise, everything
always came out as (the default) 10 pt. Courier, and not even very well at
that, as right margins were ignored and everything got chopped off at the
right. Maybe I first noticed that the HP-4 driver got away from this, to
greater or lesser degree, and took it from there.

I'll try to run some more printing trials to re-confirm this. If you have an
original Series II in house, or have access to one, I'd very much like to hear
if you are able to use various Speedo fonts, scaling them at will, without
having to rely on Image Mode. I tend to doubt it. I think you have to trick
XY into thinking the HP-2 it's connected to is an HP-4. Will let you know how
things print out here, or fail to.

In the meantime, none of this explains why the TypeFace directory can show 2.5
times as many Speedo Fonts available, according to which of the two drivers is
loaded.
