FOR KENNETH FRANK:

NS-> Nathan Sivin:
NS-> As a codicil, has anyone tried changing the Windows font and found
 -> another monospace face and size that works well in Windows and is more
 -> readable in XW? The TG programmers might want to take a look at the
 -> TELIX comm program, which comes with a variety of screen fonts that
 -> replace the Windows one for that application only. One of them works
 -> beautifully in Telix for the purposes of my friend who uses that
 -> program, very much in the same class with the default XYDOS font.

Nathan,

The Xywin programmers made the most miserable decision imaginable
by working with the system.ini monospaced font (provided half by
the graphics card, half by Microsoft). No professional program
uses it; only wretched add-ons such as notepad whose only purpose
is to allow third-party programmers to include substitutes.

If Xywin adhered to convention and used the win.ini monospaced
font set, it would have allowed anyone to substitute any font set
of choice.
