So what in this industry works the way it "should"? In this case, it was
pretty obviously Netscape that was out of compliance.
Thanks for the OS/2 rundown--and to all who so helpfully replied. It
looks as if it would be at least as difficult as Linux (I'm NOT scared of
difficult, but vita brevis, ars longa), and cost more, so I had better
concentrate on learning Linux, and put up with everything being off the
root.
