Xy-OS/2 Shell and Compact version of Enhance

Please ignore the message from Robert Holmgren about downloading the
Shell from the incoming directory at CCAT. That directory is not
available for uploading or downloading.

I have added two new contributions to the real FTP downloading
site:

XYOS2SHL.ZIP is a shell by Robert Holmgren for use under
OS/2 WARP with XY 4.017, and, "although not extensively
tested under XyWrite for Windows v4.012, it seems to work
properly." It will, in Robert's words,
launch OS/2 applications from the XyWrite command line
return to XyWrite automatically on completion of your OS/2 task(s)
one XyWrite keystroke does it all
start and maintain as many simultaneous OS/2 sessions as you wish
 start OS/2 filenames or objects(!)
no manual task switching (Alt-Esc, Ctrl-Esc)
 no mousing around
no overt OS/2 interaction whatsoever (unless you intend otherwise)
add significant new power and possibility to XPL programming
prolong the life of a great DOS "legacy" app
EVEN: control OS/2 from a XyWrite cockpit!

NOTE: Robert gave directions a couple of weeks ago for
downloading from the INCOMING directory at CCAT. That no
longer works. Download following the instructions in the
welcome document or CATALOG.DOC for binary files.

COMPACT.ZIP is a revised, somewhat more compact version of
ENHANCE.ZIP by Tim Baehr. This is a custom command set for
XY4 that provides a number of new or enhanced command-line
functions and many menu or dialog functions. These are
equivalent in some respects to a new release of the program.
To give a couple of examples, ABAN abandons the current file
and zaps the version on disk, RO changes a read-only file to
read-and-write, and BC puts a "blank command line" function
call in the file without further ado.
