Re: indexing puzzle

Kerala:

First, which version of Xy4-DOS are you using? There were
insurmountable bugs in the Indexing feature (especially
across linked files) in some of the midterm versions, around
v4.015 IIRC. If you need v4.018 (the latest, aka last),
assistance will surely be forthcoming.

Second, regardless of the cause of incorrect pagination (a
stray *after* a terminal embedded ≪PG≫ command?
that's probably the most common cause of this phenomenon;
also check whether some files have a terminal ≪PG≫ command
and others lack it), you can easily overcome the problem by
embedding a ≪SP≫ SetPage command on the first line of
files that need adjustment. For example, if file 16 thinks
that its first page is 50 whereas the first page should be
page 49, then embed ≪SP49≫ at TOF of file 16. If you're
using Roman numerals or alpha chars instead of numbers, SP
can accommodate them also.
