Re: still running in Windows 10

Another thing I've found about Win 8.1 is that the sleep mode is reliable
- - this is the first time in my experience in Windows that sleep has
been reliable.

Carl - - what is radically wrong? I don't think my computer use is that ambitious. But browser use and youtube do seem a very great stress. Today I disabled my drivers that read Mac-formatted and EXT-formatted discs as I need them so infrequently. In particular, the EXT driver, from Paragon, which has never worked that well, I had suspicons of. Where does one begin to suspect? The most-used of programs for most of us is the browser, and these seem to create the most problems. Indeed, that might all came down, as Steve Jobs (no fool) said, to Adobe Flash.

flash,

Win8 has a hybernate or sleep mode; I recommend people to use that,
rather than completely power down at the end of the work day.

Yes, I usually put the machine to sleep rather than power off, unless
I'm going to be away for any length of time.

I've never had to reinstall an operating system, ever. Not since
Win95, anyway. Something is radically wrong if you're reinstalling the
OS on a regular basis, or a feel a need to.
