As a final update on the date problem that appears in 1996:
the only versions apparently plagued by the bug are
3.53 and 3.54, both 1988 vintage. Everything
before and after those versions that was reported to the list works fine.
TTG msg'ed at some point to say that anyone needing a replacement
version can obtain it from TTG for $15.
