Robert was right again when, a while back, he said that Dells were
garbage. The one my professional association got (against my
recommendations) died after less than three, and maybe less than two,
years. And I mean DIED: it was TOAST. No POST, no screen display,
couldn't get into the BIOS, couldn't boot from a floppy. All it could do
was beep like a demented Roadrunner. In the previous 18.5 years I've been
using PCs, I have known one hard drive to die, and that was the result of
a Mobo short. (And the manufacturer, Western Digital, honored the
warranty, replaced it--with a larger model, because they weren't making
anything that small any more--and reset the warranty to day one. I've
NEVER bought any drives but WD since then.)
