I can answer the last one for you, since I too asked about CD\TEMP (no space).
XyWrite is interpreting the command line and XyQuest felt that it was better to
remain consistent (a space between the command and the argument) rather than
adopt the PC-DOS convention of allowing it either way. Keep in mind that
MS-DOS 2.x does not allow CD\ (no space); I don't know what later MS-DOSs do in
this regard..
